Meet the choir

MK Youth Choir outside the Royal Albert Hall, November 2017

MKYC focuses on part-singing and harmonies for upper voice parts (typically 1st Soprano, 2nd Soprano and Alto).

We sing a wide range of music including:

  • classical (from ancient to contemporary, including new works commissioned for the choir)

  • jazz,

  • folk

  • pop

  • musical theatre and

  • World music

so there is a type of music for everyone! We are particularly lucky to have Craig as our Musical Director, who has both composed and arranged music specifically for the choir.

We are a local Milton Keynes based choir consisting of young singers with unbroken voices, aged 8 to 18.

The choir was founded in 1997 to establish a local youth choir that provides tuition and performance opportunities in part singing to a high standard. We aim to widen the experience and appreciation of music of all genres for our members.

Our senior students, once they reach Year 10, are invited to join our senior group (the MK Youth Chorale), where they can learn more challenging arrangements and perform in small groups or as soloists.

Most members find MKYC is a very enjoyable choir to belong to, several regarding Tuesday rehearsals as the highlight of their week. Joining us provides a great opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy singing and performing together.
